Fenomenal Funds
Feminist activists are constantly living in oppressive environments, where trauma, tensions, conflict and violence affect the ways by which activists communicate with each other. This collaboration seeks to collect the knowledge of feminist/women’s funds.
The Initiative
The collaborative initiative started through the support of Fenomenal Funds between Women’s Fund Armenia, Women’s Fund in Georgia and FemFund Poland is about (local) healing practices. It aims to operationalize these practices in the ecosystem of women’s funds, their partners, and feminist activists in general. It also seeks to nurture a culture of well-being and collective care that addresses trauma and helps build a movement that is based on feminist values of care and solidarity, in which healing is understood as an integral part of feminist movement building.
Feminist Healing Spaces is a collaboration supported by Fenomenal Funds. Fenomenal Funds is a feminist funder collaborative which aims to strengthen the resilience of women’s funds, with a focus on members of the Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds. This innovative model brings together four private foundations, four women’s funds, and the Prospera Secretariat to the table, with equal voice and power in decision-making on strategy and determining the distribution of resources to women’s funds.
Feminist healing spaces are needed to acknowledge the experience of trauma and to understand the politics of healing. Due to historical and current contexts, there is a great need for centring healing in the work of women’s funds and then moving it further to our constituencies.
